$5 Footlongs at Subway
Sadly, the day has come. Subway put a limit on their $5 Footlongs . There "limited time only" has finally approached. I found this out today the hard way when my boyfriend and I went their for lunch. As we were paying I saw the guy ring the price up and I was like no I always pay $10.80 and this time it was just over $12. That's when he told me they put a limitation on the $5 subs. I know it's only a couple dollars more, but still! The idea of getting a $5 Footlong is AMAZING! Even if you can't eat the whole thing you can save it for later and it works out to be cheaper than getting a 6 inch! I know personally I eat at subway at least three times a week and I always took the route of getting a footlong. It was only logical! Seeing Subway do this made me think about the commercials that will be in the making towards by their competitors. I know I have seen the Dominos and Quizno's commercials that mock and make fun of Subways prices ("Subway is a-la cart..we are a-la-smart") and I can only imagine what they will have to say now to this. I am disappointed that I can't get my $5 Footlong TURKEY sub (it's not on their list for $5 subs now), but I am willing to throw that extra dollar. I just hope they come back with it for good...soon.

ATL Braves Fans
Last Thursday, the Braves played the Marlins at home and I was able to see it with some friends. The start of Braves games means summer is right around the corner! But, it seemed this Thursday summer had already started apparently for some kids. The game was at 12pm...Yes, that's the AFTERNOON, and last time I checked children should be in a thing called school on a weekday, such as Thursday. Needless to say many weren't! My friends and I were amazed by how many parents let their children skip school to attend the game. It ranged in all ages, from elementary kids to high school aged kids. It was crazy. As we were waiting in line my boyfriend made the comment, "Man, I wish my parents let me skip school when I was younger to come see the Braves play." He said it loud enough for the lady across from us to hear, who had brought her child to the game, and she just smiled at us. What are these parents thinking?? I mean it's one thing to do for a special reason or occasion, but were they? Highly doubt it! I mean the kids had their friends with them too!! It was crazy to see that many kids at a Braves game on a school day to say the least and I just couldn't and can't get over it!

Who is one to determine "good" art?
My freshman year at WKU I took Philosophy. It was a class that taught me to think on another level. A lot of "out of box thinking" is required for that class, needless to say not an "easy A", but manageable if the effort is applied. On another note, with that said, I never thought I would come across some of the philosophical ideas that we learned, but today managed to catch me by surprise. In my 3D art class we always manage to have some interesting conversation as we work on our projects and the debate of judging art came across. Who determines what is good art? How do you distinguish between good and bad? What qualifies someone to be a "judge" of art and make the distinguish between the two. One persons artwork in their eyes maybe priceless, but to another a failure. How do you train the eye to read between good art and bad art? Is good art one that pleases the eye or one that is complex and intriguing to the eye? Does craftsmanship make art work good? What qualifies someone to become a famous artist like Van Goh or Andy Worhol? It's a hard question to think about. When this rhetorical question was asked today in class it made me think to myself how I studied that question in such depth about arts and aesthetics previously. I think it was Philosopher Hume who developed a qualification for people to judge art. Not only does judging art involve tangible pieces of art like paintings or sculptures, it applies to all forms of art such as; music, musicals, plays, films etc. This question and concept is something that can tear your mind up if you just sit and think about it.
